you might not have heard this is happening…but you probably will still be there! its the first Deafbomb New Year gig to be held in the North east and we are chuffed to be getting 200 hearing impaired young people together for a new year celebration in the Think Tank, so expect Reggae/house/hiphop and all sorts of party goings on..tickets still available but going fast!!
you might remember ‘Crane’…you should remember ‘Crane’! one of the most outrageous post punk/hardcore rock bands from the late 80s, from our very own Ashington…they raged their way through countless show stealing supports at the Riverside venue (no not that shite nightclub, the proper one with the sticky floors, sweat dripping ceiling and reputation for having the best up and coming bands on), broke the floor at the Broken Doll, and here they are ripping up the rulebook by getting an encore at Fugazis gig at the Marcus Garvey Centre in Nottingham back in 1990. As I was ‘managing’ them (roadie/driver/referee) I was able to get this from the desk…if you are really nice I might put Fugazis input on here..keep watching!!
me and Tony Guerilla were reminiscing last night in the sour Grapes in Morpeth (whilst I gazed longingly at Olga) about some of the great bands of the 80’s who we had seen, and these boys came up…………………..enjoy…….Nellee
Heres Kurt..you might recognise him from the telly series ‘how clean is your house’ (yes really) when he guested at another friends lovely home, strangely that one featured mice droppings as well….we know him from his appearances with the ‘Bad Taste Barbies’ on our stage a couple of times last year. Here is the latest from him/her…its a belter. http://youtu.be/WA8q9D_mbRw
the Headline band were Peace, a band that is deservedly getting lots of radio 1 airplay at the mo, and plaudits from the press. They were good, and plenty of folk came to see them do an eclectic set of music , from bright pop to hippy rock outs, lovely warm guitar sounds that showed how much time these lads have spent getting it just right, then gigging it constantly (on the road since september) its probably the last time we will see them at a small venue, enjoy the ride lads.. ……Local boys ‘The Watchers’ however were on a different planet. Vocals drenched in effects and crazed guitar over funky bass and drums had the packed venue reeling , I actually heard people (obviously new to the band) shouting ‘f**kin hell they are GOOD’ to friends. When a frontman can entrance an audience into watching his every move without really being physical, you know he has an edge on the opposition. No offence at all to the rest of the bands, but the Watchers took it tonight…#
local company KYEO tv did this footage a little while ago, cracking stuff, check out their page at http://www.kyeo.tv/2011/03/11/watching-the-watchers/ and get to see the band live if you can.
